Scaffolding Why is Scaffolding important ?
Scaffold, in building construction, is a temporary platform used to elevate and support workers and materials during the construction, repair, or cleaning of a structure or machine; it consists of one or more planks (2×4) of convenient size and length, with various methods of support, depending on the form and use. scaffold.
Scaffolding, also called scaffold or staging, is a temporary structure used to support a work crew and materials to aid in the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings, bridges and all other man-made structures.
How Does This Help Our Crew?
Easy Access !
Makes applying cement easier !
supports weight !
in my opinion the most overlooked tool required to build with this SCIP Building System. Scaffolding is a simply some type of platform which will place a tradesman or worker above ground level and allow him to perform a given task, a common rule Iife learned in many years is when a tradesman or workers feet leave ground level to perform a task the labor at a minimum will double, the idea with a well set scaffolding is to depilate ground level, simple rule please keep this rule in mind. Usually a platform or scaffold may be around the perimeter of a structure or under a ceiling or bottom side of the roof, do not confuse using a ladder or small bench with a working platform or scaffolding.
I will illustrate this page with photos and descriptions of different types of scaffolding used in different parts of the world and also on projects I have personally built or worked on, at one time I personally owned and set thousands and thousands of dollars worth of scaffolding and know this part of the building system extremely well.
Scaffold installation is different for each trade for instance a shotcrete company may wish to use a wider frame and have the frame a greater distance from the walls, as they are applying their design mix to the SCIP wall panels, a gunnite company because of the high velocity may wish to set the frames a greater distance from the structure, due to the high velocity of the gunnite application or another application lets say hand applied Portland cement mortar or a tradesman applying the wire mesh to a SCIP panel wall, the frame or scaffold may be set closer to the structure say one foot or less, I like the scaffolding set a minimum of arms length to the wall this allows the worker to perform his task in most cases, when setting your scaffold or building your scaffolding please keep the task in mind of what your workers are trying to achieve as you are trying to save time and cost, I will offer some tips on setting or building many different types of scaffolding in the following paragraphs .
