SCIP Concrete Bathtub

The homeowner requested  a concrete sunken bathtub. With enough space to place a tub diagonally e we built the bathtub in front of the windows, and in front of the shower. We used a plywood template for placement, and placed one at the top to keep the Panels in place. Portland cement was placed around the Panels form.

Once the plywood template was removed  we applied Portland cement over the Panels and the sunken bathtub was shaped. The plasterer shown working on the attached shower was also built using concrete wall Panels.

Portland cement mortar being applied to the Panel shower and sunken tub.

The Portland cement mortar is completed, and the bathtub and shower design now stands out, note the recessed water over flow from tub to shower.

The homeowner selected the stones and assisted in the overall application design, Eloise is a ball of energy and completed many tasks herself, her selection of colors and combinations was excellent through out the project.

Using concrete in the bathroom requires sealing of the building envelop to minimize mold growth, if you take the appropriate steps while building, mold growth on concrete is preventable.
